RYA ONLINE INTERACTIVE VHF/SRC COURSE

SRC = Short Range Radio Certificate
DSC Digital Selective Calling, incldueded in most most modern radios.
GMDSS – Global Maritome Distress Safety System.

The RYA Interactive Short-Range Radio course allows you to study at your own time at home.  You can go back and repeat the modules as many times as you like.  It should take 8 to 10 hours of study.  At the end of the course is a pre-exam knowledge check. 

To gain you License you will need to sit the RYA/MCA short Range Radio exam. Once you have finished your course, please contact us to arrange to take your final assessment. All SRC courses must be examined face to face and cannot be examined online.

Why take this course?

A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board, and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. Unnecessary transmissions could block out a Mayday distress call.

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and hand held equipment using International channels.
